1917

The First World War reached its cruel climax in April 1917. In northern France, German and British units lay siege to their trenches without moving an inch. The morale of the troops is getting worse. In this situation, British soldiers Schofield (George MacKay) and Blake (Dean-Charles Chapman) stationed in northern France are given an urgent and dangerous assignment by their superior General Erinmore (Colin Firth): they are supposed to protect the bombed out no man’s land between the Germans and cross British trenches and deliver a message to another British battalion. This is just about to be ambushed into a German ambush and thus into death.
