Martin Scorsese directs this historical drama set in the second half of the 17th century and starring Liam Neeson, Andrew Garfield and Adam Driver. A story about the mission inherent in the belief of all religious and the difficulties surrounding this duty that can affect a man of God to the point of completely renouncing his faith. The film narrates the misadventures of a missionary who has abandoned his belief as a result of the persecution and torture suffered in Japan, a country to which two young Jesuits are displaced with the intention of finding the third in misfortune. Those men of faith will then live in their own flesh the violence with which the Japanese receive the Christians in their country. The film is based on a book of the same name by Shusaku Endo.
